Open Road

2017 is an exciting year for Canadians as we celebrate our Sesquicentennial – Canada150 – from coast to coast to coast. The Elora Singers, too, are embracing this milestone celebration on the Open Road!

-The Royal Canadian College of Organists (RCCO) has invited The Elora Singers to perform on July 1st at St. Patrick’s Basilica, Montreal. The Elora Singers are thrilled to be a signature performance in this notable Festival’s Canada Day celebrations in Montreal, culminating in a special gathering of guests on the roof top of Notre-Dame Basilica for fellowship and fireworks!

-In advance of our Montreal performance, the Singers will be returning to Amherst Island for their annual Waterside Summer Series Music Festival, performing in this picturesque community on June 30th. Patrons of this charming and acclaimed Festival have always given a warm welcome and high praise to our Singers, and we are thrilled for the opportunity to once again Celebrate In Song on the island.

-In October, The Elora Singers are planning an extended tour of our Maritime Provinces, which will begin with a performance in Charlottetown, PEI, the birthplace of Confederation. Following engagements include concerts in Sackville, New Brunswick, and Antigonish, Shelbourne, Halifax and Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Also included in our Maritime schedule will be educational and outreach activities, in particular we are planning a facilitated session in a local community outlining the implementation and benefits of our weekly Therapeutic Dementia Choir, now entering its 2nd year at the Wellington Terrace Long Term Care Facility in Elora– a highly enriching experience for residents and their care-givers.

The Elora Singers Open Road Touring Program is made possible by the generous support of our patrons, in addition to funding from federal and provincial grants. We invite you to consider supporting our 2017 Open Road Tour Campaign this Sesquicentennial year, a tremendous year of celebration and opportunity for The Elora Singers and all Canadians!
